We’re taking the Bishop’s Bible Challenge

We are taking part in Bishop Julian’s Bible Challenge – getting to know the Scriptures better – starting with St. John’s Gospel.

For six weeks this Autumn St. Mary Magdalene’s are taking Bishop Julian’s challenge to get to know the Scriptures better.
*A small “try – out team” have already taken the challenge and found it interesting, stimulating and, of course, challenging.
*A video explaining the challenge will be shown before the services on September 22nd and 29th. It will include comments from the “try – out team”
*130 named copies of “Knowing the Scriptures Better” will be distributed to members of the congregation.

*An audio copy of the booklet and the Gospel of John is available for anyone who would find it easier to listen than to read.

*The booklet “Uncover John – Gospel” will be given to the young people and “Diary of a Disciple” to the children.
*For six weeks from September 29th to November 3rd the Gospel readings and sermon will be from St. John’ Gospel.
*For each of the six weeks, a memory verse linked to the readings will be displayed in church and printed on the weekly service sheet.
*On October 13th which we shall keep as Bible Sunday there will be Bible Discussion Groups on the Gospel for the day instead of a sermon.
*And once the six weeks of the challenge are over, there are lots of options to help us to continue to get to know the Scriptures better.
