Pendle Primary School at St. Mary’s

Pendle Primary School visit St. Mary’s Church

Report by a Key Stage 1 pupil

This morning, me and my partner walked up to St. Marys Church. When we got there we quietly walked inside the church and sat down on the 2nd pew, to meet our lovely hoast Patricia and Jo modelled a baby getting baptised. Then she told us some facts, then she filled up a bowl called a font with warm water. Then she got out a candle but it was not an ordinary candle it was an Easter candle and then Jo lit the candle. After Patricia got out a smaller candle and lit that one too then gave it to Mrs Backhouse. Next they both told us about the cross and what to do with it she said you have to walk down the isle with the quire. Finally we all gave the pretend baby Olivia a quick clap then we lined up to walk back to school. What an adventure!

Here is the “Thank You” card which the children gave to us after Friday’s visit
