From April I will be introducing a series of lunch time organ recitals in church. In the past the ‘Clitheroe Parish Church Organ Society’ ran evening recitals, more recently Saturday morning recitals were held. Mid-week lunch time recitals are popular in many churches and often build up a loyal following, I have regularly played at St. Ann’s in Manchester centre, Halifax Minster and other churches around the Northwest. St Mary’s recitals will be on the first Tuesday of the month starting at 1.00 pm and lasting 40 minutes. Dates for your diary are: 3rd April, 1st May, 5th June, 3rd July, 4th September and 2nd October. There will be no charge, but we will ask for voluntary donations. It is hoped that we will generate enough support (and income) for me to be able to invite other guest organists, including some who have connections with Clitheroe to give some of the recitals. We are very fortunate that Clive Greenwood has kindly agreed to publicise these recitals as part of the ‘Ribble Valley Music Festival’. I hope you will come along.
